>> Most Popular Beers Around The World - Part II
United States - Bud Light
Introduced in 1982, Bud Light has grown to become the best-selling beer in the United States and the No. 1 light beer in the world. Brewed at all 12 Anheuser-Busch U.S.-based breweries, Bud Light is made with a blend of two and six-row malt and cereal grains for a clean and crisp, smooth taste. In addition, it is brewed with all-natural ingredients - water, barley malt, rice, hops and yeast. Due to its popularity and Anheuser-Busch’s network of more than 600 wholesalers, Bud Light is among the freshest beers in the industry. Each 12 ounce-serving contains 110 calories and 6.6 grams of carbohydrates and is 4.2 percent alcohol by volume.
Canada - Labatt Blue
By the early 1950s, the Labatt Brewing Company had survived a brewery fire and a kidnapping, endured the Great Depression, Prohibition and two World Wars. To honour that rich heritage, Hugh Labatt embarked on a pilgrimage to the heart of European beer culture: Pilsen, in the now-Czech Republic. It was there that he perfected the recipe for Labatt Pilsener Lager – a crisp and refreshing beer unlike the heavier ales that were popular in Canada at the time. Canadians embraced the new beer – and they called it Blue. Today, Labatt Blue is the best-selling Canadian beer in the world and proud recipient of the prestigious Gold Medal, Monde Selection 2003, in Brussels, Belgium.
Brazil - Skol
Skol is a clear beer, with refined aroma and light and smooth flavor. Skol targets youth, it is venturesome and irreverent and it is a benchmark in events and the most innovative beer: Skol was the first tin plate-made can and the first aluminum can in the country, pioneer in long neck bottle, can with rounded opening, big neck bottle and 473 ml can. This is the reason why Skol is leader in terms of preference and sales in Brazil. Skol, “a cerveja que desce redondo” (the smooth and easy-to-drink beer).
Mexico - Corona
Corona (labeled Corona Extra) is a lager brewed in Mexico by Grupo Modelo. It is the top-selling beer in Mexico and is one of the top selling beers worldwide. Corona beer is available in over 150 countries and is usually served with a wedge of lemon or lime. In the United States, Corona Extra is the top selling imported beer. Outside of Mexico, Corona is often served with a wedge of lime or lemon inserted into the neck of the bottle.
Germany - Krombacher
Krombacher Brauerei is one of the biggest privately owned breweries in Germany. The Krombacher brand was founded in 1803 by Bernhard Schadeberg and has continued to be in the hands of the Schadeberg family for generations. The taste of pilsener beer is quite decisively characterised by the water it is brewed with. Alongside the high-quality ingredients, the secret of the unique taste of Krombacher Pils thus lies, above all else, in the fresh, pure and low-mineral natural spring water it is brewed with. With Krombacher Pils you enjoy a distinctive, finely bitter taste and a full-flavoured aroma – this is a genuine premium pilsener beer with an alcohol content of 4.8 %.
Netherlands - Heineken
Craftsmanship and a unique recipe put Heineken on the map, and consistent high quality has now made it the world’s most international premium beer, well loved in more than 170 countries. Its mildly bitter taste, fresh, fruity aroma, bright colour and exceptional clarity are obtained using only the purest water, hops and barley malt. Gravity: Original extracts 11-12% by weight. Alcohol: 5% vol. Bitterness: 23 EBU. Colour: 7 EBC.
United Kingdom - Carling
In existence for over 150 years, the CARLING name has been synonymous with quality brewing since 1840 when settler Thomas Carling established his own brewery. Under the CARLING brand, you can find a variety of great tasting beers such as Dark, Extra Strong, Extreme, Original Draft, Pilsner, Strong, and Supreme.
Ireland - Guinness
Guinness is a popular dry stout that originated in Arthur Guinness’ brewery at St. James’s Gate in Dublin, Ireland. The beer is based on the porter style that originated in London in the early 18th century. It is one of the most successful beer brands in the world, being exported worldwide. The distinctive feature in the flavour is the roasted barley which remains unfermented. For many years a portion of the beer was aged to give a sharp lactic flavour, but Guinness has refused to confirm if this still occurs. The thick creamy head is the result of the beer being mixed with nitrogen when being served. It is extremely popular with the Irish and, in spite of a decline in consumption over recent years, is the best-selling alcoholic drink of all time in Ireland, where Guinness & Co. makes almost €2 billion annually.
