Parvathy Omanakuttan 1st runner up at Miss World 2008 (2417 views)

Parvathy Omanakuttan (or Parvathi Omanakuttan) of India was crowned the first finalist in the Miss World Pageant 2008 held on December 13 in Johannesberg, South Africa. Ksenya Sukhinova Russian, was crowned Miss World 2008 after beating 109 other contestants. Gabriel Walcott, Trinidad and Tobago was runner-up. Sukhinova, which was a crowd favorite, had won the Top Model and was third in the swimsuit competition. Miss Miss Angola and South Africa have also reached the top five.The rest of the countries in the 15 but did not go further were: Mexico, Iceland, Barbados, Venezuela, Ukraine, Croatia, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Puerto Rico and Spain. South Africa, which organized the event for the sixth time, became the country that has held over Miss World pageants than any other. The event was broadcast to millions of viewers in 187 countries. Parvathy Omanakuttan of India was the first name that is announced for the five finalists. When asked about his experience in South Africa, he said, India and South Africa are people warm and hot. I felt at home in Johannesburg. Great leaders such Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi have influenced millions of people in both countries.
